18 Days, 26 Objects

[split]

Thanks to everyone who stopped by today to celebrate the halfway point in Radka Pulliam’s month-long residency—it was wonderful to see old friends and to meet so many new people.  Radka spent the day stitching #25 and #26 in her series of “29 objects or their shadows,” which documents various objects in the Ramon’s Tailor studio. We also got a glimpse of a new series of photographs that will document each stitched drawing in front of its inspired location.

We’re impressed with the compelling pieces that Radka has created in only the first half of her residency and we can’t wait to see what happens over the course of the next two weeks. Mark your calendars for the Closing Reception on Saturday, October 1st (details to follow soon).

After today’s open house, we gathered for an ‘impromptu show and tell’ salon where six local artists joined us to talk about what they are currently working on.  It was inspiring to hear about the processes and concepts for diverse projects whose final forms varied from books to meat-based sculpture to performance art. A thoughtful and fun discussion was had by the group.
